About Tamara

“To stop running, we need a partner to help us sit, bear, and feel.

For what was unbearable when alone becomes bearable when shared.”

Jon Frederickson

Hi, I’m Tamara and I’m a Clinical Psychologist. I value an authentic and compassionate approach to therapy, where my aim is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and validated.

I adopt a dynamic psychotherapy approach in my practice using principles from Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). Together we will spend time gaining a shared understanding of the problems that have led you to therapy, with a specific focus on the emotional aspects of these difficulties. We will also explore the barriers that have stopped you from gaining the outcomes you have been seeking.

In therapy, I understand that one size does not fit all, and therefore use an individualised approach to therapy that is grounded in evidence-based practices. I am trained and experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, and supportive counseling techniques.

In addition to private practice, I also work as a Senior Psychologist in the public sector, with experience across alcohol and other drug services, and mental health services including acute, community and inpatient services. I have also held roles in health psychology, education/training, projects, and research.

I am available to see clients at Freudian Couch Specialist Clinic on Tuesdays.

Telehealth appointments may be available by request.
